Here We Go…

Hi, I’m Bernadette, welcome to my very first blog post! On this site you will find a lot about crocheting and amigurumi (the Japanese art of making yarn animals and dolls by means of crocheting and knitting). I will also be sharing some other crafty posts including knitting, paper art and painting when it tickles my fancy and the time allows.

I am a huge believer in utilizing our God given gifts to better the world we live in. The name of my blog is ‘A Purpose and A Stitch’. My purpose is to use my gifts of writing and my crafty imagination to hopefully help those in need. To find out how I plan on doing this visit my About Me page here.

So now that you’re familiar with the “purpose”, what about the “stitch”?

I have always been a crafty person and took up the art of crocheting in high school. However, it wasn’t until a back injury in 2012 that I absolutely fell in love with Crocheting.  Before I injured my back, running and baking (and of course eating those baked goods) were my go-to stress relievers. However, if you’re athletic at all, you will know how important a good core and back are to moving around. While I was recovering from my injury, I started to crochet some more. Around this same time my sister-in-law gave me a book with some amigurumi patterns that she no longer wanted. I decided to try a pattern and was hooked (no pun intended)! There is something so rewarding and relaxing about having nothing but a skein of yarn and a hook and turning that into an adorable little stuffed animal, a beautiful scarf, sweater or hat.

From that point on crocheting became my go-to for stress release and relaxation. I still love the occasional run or baked good, but crocheting is my passion.

I hope that this blog will inspire you to find the same joy and relaxation that I have found through crocheting, and ultimately that I will inspire you to also use your God given gifts and talents to make a difference the world.

Much Love,

B
